Toussaint was second to Denard Robinson in rushing last season with 514 yards and five touchdowns last season. In 2011, Toussaint gained 1,041 yards and scored nine times.
"If we're going to get technical about it, Fitz would be the starter," Hoke told reporters. "There's a clear separation that Fitz is the guy."

Toussaint was competing with Thomas Rawls (242 yards, 4 TDs in 2012), Justice Hayes (83, 1) and redshirt freshman Drake Johnson for the starting job.
True freshman Derrick Green arrived on campus as one of the top recruits in the country, regardless of position, but has been hampered by an ankle injury, according to The Detroit News.

Toussaint broke his left leg last season against Iowa on Nov. 17.
"I can tell you he was here every day either through rehab, or whatever they needed to do, and then down here pushing himself from a standpoint of his conditioning and his mindset," Hoke told The News.
