In an update post discussing Five Night at Freddy’s: Security Breach, Cawthon revealed that the project continues to grow bigger and more complex by the day, claiming the sequel needs more time to become the expansive next entry he hopes it will be. “I’ve made the decision to put more time and money into it to make sure it’s finished properly,” the developer states in the post, confirming that it’s been pushed from the first half of 2021 to the second.

However, Cawthon wants to give fans something to do in the meantime, revealing that a new spin-off game known as Security Breach: Fury’s Rage is out now on Game Jolt. The images of the game reveal it’s a side-scrolling brawler, with the new characters set to debut in Security Breach battling it out against various evil animatronics. Players can take control of Freddy Fazbear, Monty, Roxanne, and Chica, with each offering different stats.
Knowing Scott Cawthon, the game will likely be sprinkled with hints towards the wider lore of the series and the story set to take place in Security Breach later this year. It already looks as though the next entry in the long-running horror franchise will be its most story-rich to date, with early trailers showing off a giant theme park and an ominous new villain.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach will launch for PC, PS4, and PS5 later this year.
