The Pizzaplex After Dark
Players find themselves in the shoes of Gregory, the game’s protagonist. The young boy has managed to hide away inside of Freddy Fazbear’s chest cavity, and Freddy wakes up in his dressing room after an on-stage malfunction. After the two get acquainted, Freddy urges Gregory to leave as soon as possible, and that the Pizzaplex is not safe at night; Freddy’s orders would be to apprehend and kill Gregory, but his recent malfunction has given him the ability to disobey his programming.
He gives Gregory a novelty Fazwatch that gives the player access to surveillance cameras, maps, and opens communication with Freddy. With Freddy’s direction, Gregory makes a break for the Pizzaplex’s main exit, avoiding animatronics and STAFF bots. Gregory is too late and the doors seal at midnight, keeping him trapped inside Freddy’s Pizzaplex until 6 AM.
During his time inside the Pizzaplex, Gregory deals with Glamrock Chica, Roxanne Wolf, and Montgomery Gator as members of the main stage band alongside Freddy. Gregory must also avoid other animatronics that are new to the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise. After players survive the daycare chase sequence, the Daycare Attendant will appear ten minutes before every hour and force Gregory and Freddy to seek shelter in a recharge station.
Gregory’s main antagonist is Vanny, a humanoid bunny that has seemingly supernatural powers. After security guard Vanessa captures Gregory and traps him in an office, Vanny attempts to corner the boy, leading to the realization that Vanny is actually just Vanessa inside a bunny suit.
In order to escape, Gregory must upgrade Freddy Fazbear using the enhanced body parts of his bandmembers. Freddy discourages this, but Gregory fights Roxy and takes her eyes and must take down either Monty or Chica to receive the claws or voice box. During the battle with either Monty or Chica, players must escape from DJ Music Man, a massive spider-like animatronic. After obtaining the stolen parts and upgrading Freddy, Gregory is able to sprint to the exit where the doors have finally opened, and players are able to choose which ending path they take.
The True Ending
There are several different endings to Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach. What ending a player gets depends on the actions they took during the game, the choice they make at the door, and their path after making a choice. Only one ending is marked as canon, and this ending requires players to stay in the Pizzaplex and head down to the sinkhole below the premises.
This ending ties into the prior game, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator, and reveals information about Vanny and her relation to the late William Afton, AKA “purple man” from Five Nights at Freddy’s Lore. One ending reveals that Gregory is a homeless child, and other endings confirm Gregory and Freddy’s suspicion that Vanny and Vanessa are one in the same. However, the true ending doesn’t resolve Vanny’s arc, leading fans to believe she may appear in more upcoming games.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
