The match that took 15 years to happen and one of the ones we have all talked about over the years is finally going to come to fruition. Now that The Club has been banned from ringside, it is almost a forgone conclusion something else will happen to leave is all trying to pick our jaws up off the floor.
If anything, there is plenty of excitement about this show – something WWE has lacked in recent past. Maybe this new era thing is real and the success of the company will mean wrestling matters again. But for now, let’s not count on it.
The Styles-Cena confrontation isn’t the only big match on the card, where there could be fireworks all through the night with many possible “surprises” to take place. With Las Vegas the setting for MITB, you bet there will be a swerve or two to discuss Monday evening on Raw.
You can believe that!
Here are a few surprises that could happen during the pay-per-view.
Finn Balor, Come on Down
We have anticipated this move by WWE to call the former NXT champion up to the main roster. Now, it is only a matter of time. Given his connection to Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, could he be the fly in the ointment that gives the Phenomenal One the victory over the “Face that runs the place?”
Balor’s entry into WWE means the rumors of new faces being added to The Club will either subside, or they will continue. In New World Order fashion, there could be two or three fresh faces who that continue to build the heel faction.
Dean Ambrose wins MITB
It’s unlikely he would take home the golden briefcase after the events on RAW, but stranger things have happened.
Since Ambrose has not been a main feature of the MITB participants – teaming up in six-man tag matches and sticking to his “Ambrose Asylum” shtick, it is unlikely he wins, but should he win, I could see him walk out of Las Vegas with the WWE World Title.
What if Seth Rollins beats Roman Reigns and then Ambrose beats Rollins? Instant Triple Threat Match in a return engagement – much to the delight of WWE’s fans.
The Return of Bray Wyatt
The Eater of Worlds has been cleared to wrestle and would seem like the most likely choice to be the seventh man in the MITB Ladder Match. Last year, if you recall, he cost Roman Reigns the chance to win – setting off a huge rivalry that helped Reigns’ profile.
Wyatt does not need a title be a champion in this company. His persona and his following is more than enough to get him over. I suspect he gets in the MITB match, but he loses in the end to Kevin Owens, setting off a huge rivalry over the summer.
Triple H vs. Shane McMahon
This one is coming to a SummerSlam near you, but it’s never too early yo get your McMahon in-fighting fix.
The constant bickering between Shane and Stephanie over Raw and Smackdown has to come to a head and what better way than for Triple H to defend his wife. Somehow, some way, there has to be a hook. It may not happen in Las Vegas, but could be part of Raw the next night or in the brand split.
I hate the idea of McMahon vs. McMahon taking over storylines, but this one needs to come to a boiling point soon, or the angle means nothing.
Kevin Owens wins MITB
It’s almost a given this will happen. How it happens is the question.
Owens has the chance to be the biggest heel in the company and his ability to work with every superstar he has faced shows how valuable he is. If he and Wyatt are the last two standing in the MITB match, the fans would absolutely lose their minds.
I also like the idea of Owens and Chris Jericho going through the summer beating each other up. Wouldn’t it be great to see Jericho get one more shot at wearing company gold? It would, but it won’t happen. Your MITB winner will be Owens.
