He is often viewed with a question mark over his ability to justify his immense talent with the bat.

Though over the years, Hitman has produced some of the finest ODI innings of all times, not only in India but even overseas. With three ODI double hundreds and a career best of 264, Rohit has made that opening slot his own.

His performances over the years have helped him grow in confidence to go as one of India’s greatest ODI batsman in their cricketing history.

The flamboyant Indian opener has the knack of taking the attack to the bowlers with his ability to hit sixes on will. We take a look at some of the records that he can break before the end of 2018:

#1 Most sixes by an Indian opener in ODI

In the history of Indian cricket, there are only few who made the opening slot in ODI cricket their own. The elusive list includes the likes of great Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, and the latest addition being Rohit Sharma.

Over the years, these players have made it difficult for the others to step in anytime during their careers.

Rohit, who loves to open the batting, is no different. His enormous talent to hit sixes sees him second on the list of most sixes by any Indian after Tendulkar.

He has 150 sixes from just 98 innings and needs only 18 to get past Tendulkar’s tally of 167 maximums to get the record against his name. With Asia Cup and then bilateral series at home against Windies, Rohit will have an opportunity to get to the landmark in 2018.

#2 Most 150+ score in ODIs

Rohit currently holds the record for most 150s in ODI cricket along with Sachin Tendulkar and David Warner. The trio fancies five 150+ score each in their careers. While Rohit, technically is leading the chart with most runs in all those innings and with a better strike rate, but he would want to get one more to his name to gain the wholesome lead.

Since Sachin has retired and Warner is serving a ban and is ineligible to play International cricket until March 2019, it is obvious that Sharma has a decent chance to topple the duo to gain the lead.

#3 Most T20I runs ever

Rohit Sharma currently stands fifth on the list of highest run-getters in T20 Internationals. With 2086 runs in 84 matches for India in T20, Rohit sees the likes of Martin Guptill, B McCullum, Shoaib Malik and Virat Kohli, ahead of him.

With his attacking style of batting, it is inevitable for the Indian opener to go past the others on the list to reach the cliff. He has the highest strike rate among the top five batters.

#4 Most sixes in T20Is

Rohit Sharma needs only 15 sixes to go past Gayle’s tally in T20Is

With 89 sixes to his name, India’s vice-captain stands fourth on the list for most sixes in T20Is ever. It is no brainer that Chris Gayle leads the charts with a tally of 103 maximums in his entire T20I career.

Rohit Sharma needs only 15 sixes to go past Gayle’s tally in T20Is. In doing so, he will also leave the likes of Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum behind in the process.

#5 Most 100+ scores in T20Is

The 31-year old has always been in sublime form when it comes to the shortest version of the game. Leading Mumbai Indians in IPL, Rohit is the most successful skipper in the history of the tournament. He has replicated the form for India in T20Is with three centuries in his International career.

He is the joint record-holder alongside Colin Munro for most centuries in T20I cricket. He can go past the southpaw with just one more century to his name. His last century in T20 against Sri Lanka at Indore, also saw Rohit get to the fastest T20I century.
