Davidson is ranked as the 24th-best overall player in the country by 247Sports.com and the No. 2 strongside defensive end.

The 6-4, 268-pound lineman out of Greenville High School (Ala.) also considered Georgia, Florida, Clemson, LSU, Michigan and FSU. Earlier Friday, four-star RB Elijah Holyfield, the son of Evander Holyfield, picked Georgia over Alabama and Auburn.
Davidson is Auburn’s 13th commitment for the 2016 class and plans to enroll early.
“It’s so much tradition, so much family,” Davidson said after making his announcement.
Auburn has five-star commitments from each of its recruiting classes since 2013: Carl Lawson and Montravius Adams (2013), Roc Thomas and Tre Williams (2014) and Byron Cowart (2015).
His decision wasn’t a huge surprise. His older brother, Kenneth Carter, played on the defensive line at Auburn and is on staff.
