Shortly after his game ended, the Class of 2016’s No. 2 recruit announced his decision to play for Duke. It’s not surprising that a talented player chose Duke, but Tatum took just one official visit before realizing where he wanted to go.

“I love the way the program is run, and I love the way the academics are set up,” Tatum said of Duke (via ESPN). “My relationships with the Duke coaches were the best, and they made me a priority. They did the best job of recruiting me and have been at almost all my games, and that means a lot.”
Tatum is a 6-8 wing player who can shoot from the perimeter or drive to the basket. He took his lone official visit in February, when Duke hosted Syracuse. He also took unofficial visits to Kentucky and hometown Saint Louis.
Tatum is looking forward to being coached by Duke legend Mike Krzyzewski.
“I love Coach K’s passion to coach his players and to coach the game,” Tatum said. “I examined and watched the interaction between him and his staff, along with the players, and was impressed (with) how hard they played.”
